Law Firm Spending on Technology

A recent article published by “The Times” in London describes the trends in tech spending by law firms “across the pond” – trends that are likely similar among domestic firms as well.

So where are tech dollars being invested?  According to The Times, the money is going here:

  1. Enhanced cyber-security
  2. Client collaboration software
  3. Automated document production

Artificial intelligence was a much lower priority for most firms.

What law firms are frequently omitting is some degree of investment in communications to their clients about HOW they are improving security, collaboration and document production for the benefit of clients.

Ironic, since the latter effort is much easier than the former, and could be more profitable in terms of ROI.
